The program operates at the Horseshoe Resort for 8 weeks on Saturdays, starting Saturday January 6th, 2018. It provides support for persons who are physically and intellectually challenged. There are two sessions running from 10:15 – 11:45 am and 1:30 – 3:00 pm. Skiers are matched with trained volunteer ski partners and supervisor/instructors provide formal instruction.
The cost of the eight-week program with lift tickets and rentals provided is $150.00 + HST, as well as mandatory CADS membership that is an additional $40.00 for a total of $209.50 including HST. You can register online for CADS Membership at: Member Registration.
Please note that CADS membership does not guarantee placement in the program and should only be completed once placement in the program is confirmed.
All skiers and volunteers are required to become members of CADS to participate and be properly insured. The cost is $40 and you can register online for CADS Membership at: Member Registration. PLEASE NOTE THAT CADS STUDENT MEMBERSHIPS SHOULD NOT BE PURCHASED UNTIL CONFIRMATION OF THEIR PARTICIPATION IN THE PROGRAM.
All volunteers participate in training, starting with orientation on Saturday December 9th, 2017 at Horseshoe Resort. Registration starts at 8:30 am winding up around 3 pm with on snow sessions planned, weather permitting. Lift tickets are provided but all participants are responsible for their own equipment and lunch. New volunteers will receive lift tickets for program dates. Returning volunteers, with the assessment of the program supervisor, will receive staff passes for free skiing at any time, as well as resort discounts. Volunteers may be asked to complete a police background check.
NOTE: All on hill volunteers must be competent skiers, comfortable on Blue and Green runs.
Student registration for the program starts in September. Please contact program coordinator David O’Brien by email: email@example.com to request to be put on the waiting list for the CADS Adaptive Program @ Horseshoe Resort. Space is limited, with priority given to returning students.
