Brimacombe

The program operates at the Brimacombe Ski Club for 8 weeks on Sundays, starting the second Sunday after New Years, January 13th, 2019. It provides support for persons who are physically and intellectually challenged. Participants are matched with trained Volunteers and/or Instructors. The average ski session is 1.5 hours.

Equipment and instruction are provided by CADS Durham volunteers. Arrangements for additional equipment can be made with the on-site Rental Shop.

MEMBERSHIP

Participants and Volunteers must become registered members of CADS on the CADS National website for $40 to participate and be properly insured. The cost is $240.00 for participants for the 8 week ski program plus the $40 CADS National Membership. Volunteers are only required to obtain their CADS National Membership for the $40 fee. This membership provides insurance and also access to a variety of discounts through CADS Ontario.

VOLUNTEERS

Volunteers are vital in running a successful program. CADS Durham provides comprehensive training. To promote consistent training for our participants, volunteers are required to be available for two 1.5-hour sessions each ski day, and 5 out of the 8 weeks during the program. Lift tickets for volunteers are provided through the fundraising efforts of CADS Durham. We anticipate holding a volunteer training day on January 6th, 2019.
